Empowering Communities to Build a Cleaner, Greener Future

Akbay Kalikasan Environmental Society Management Inc. (AKESMI) is a nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to advancing environmental education, ecological solid waste management, sustainability, and community development throughout Cavite and the Philippines.

We believe that meaningful environmental change begins at the grassroots level, where informed and empowered communities can take collective action to protect natural resources, reduce waste, and create healthier environments for future generations.

Why We Exist

Environmental problems cannot be solved by policy alone. Lasting change happens when communities are informed, engaged, and empowered to take action.

Many communities continue to face challenges related to waste disposal, environmental degradation, and limited awareness of sustainable practices. AKESMI exists to bridge this gap through education, collaboration, and community-driven solutions.

By promoting responsible environmental practices and creating opportunities for participation, we help transform environmental awareness into meaningful action.

Our Mission

We aim to promote and coordinate waste management and environmental protection through tree planting actions and eco-garden development in the community using sustainable IEC campaign programs and ensure proper coordination with other stakeholders like government, HOA’s, business industry, NGO’s, media, civic and religious organizations.

Our Vision

To impart sustainability in the process of waste management procedures through IEC and creating opportunities in revenue generating projects for the community, yielding to an environment that is healthy, responsive, and proactive.

What We Do

Environmental Education

We conduct Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaigns that increase awareness of environmental issues and promote sustainable practices among individuals, schools, organizations, and communities.

Ecological Solid Waste Management

We advocate for the principles of Republic Act 9003, the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, helping communities implement proper waste segregation, recycling, waste reduction, and responsible disposal practices.

Tree Planting and Environmental Conservation

Through tree planting activities and environmental initiatives, we encourage communities to take an active role in protecting and restoring local ecosystems.

Eco-Gardens and Community Development

We support the development of eco-gardens and other community-based sustainability projects that promote environmental responsibility while creating opportunities for learning and livelihood.

Partnerships and Community Mobilization

We collaborate with government agencies, private organizations, educational institutions, and community groups to expand the reach and impact of environmental programs and initiatives.

Our Objectives

AKESMI works to:

Educate people about the values of health security, sense of social responsibility, and ecological waste management awareness through the 3Rs concept.

Create and organize community chapters and sub-chapters at the barangay level to actively practice proper solid waste management and clean-up drives.

Develop livelihood programs based on the high-value by-products of solid waste collected and managed within the community.

Collaborate with government and private industry sectors to fulfill the provisions and environmental rules set under RA 9003.

What We Believe

We believe that environmental protection is a shared responsibility.

When communities are equipped with knowledge, supported by strong partnerships, and given opportunities to participate, they can become powerful agents of change.

By working together, we can reduce waste, protect natural resources, strengthen communities, and create a healthier future for generations to come.
